Went out to get a cool drink and my shoes got stuck to the melted asphalt
Had to get into the car, held my breath, swiftly got into the oven, switched on the air conditioner to its maximum and spat to the driving wheel so that I could touch it.
I had to pretend I´m working while my body struggles to digest my deliciously heavy-spanish-mum-cooked lunch
The fire alarm went off. We all have to leave the building. It takes me a nanosecond to choose a gentle death by smoke inhalation.
Arrive home to find an empty bottle of water in the fridge. Once again. No cool drinks anywhere.
22.00 hrs: Sigue haciendo calor y encima te comen los mosquitos. Still hot and mosquitos are killing me
TV news announce a heatwave for next week

My first sewing machine

Original Print
I am finally the proud owner of a sewing machine. I've used mum´s machine since I got sewing fever about six months ago. I was terrified to break it but it is proved to be sturdy enough.
ás.My mum has finally understood that I´m serious about sewing and that the only way to remove me from her beloved machine is to get me a new one. So she has kindly offered to buy me one!!!! We went together to the shop and she chose the model. Nothing too complicated but a strong and reliable machine. She knew beforehand the brand had to be the same she's used for years so the options weren't that many. While she asked question after question I looked amused wondering how on earth was I going to ever learn things like tension, automatic features, etc, etc.

She decided (and I had to fully agree) that what I needed was this:
Por fin nos decidimos por este modelo:

It is a Alfa 1403, quite simple to work with because it does the basic things: straight stitch, zig zag, buttonholes, back stitching and that's it!! It comes with weird foots that I'll learn to use some day. The only thing I don't like is the instructions booklet, it doesn't tell what each foot or thing included with the machine is for, the drawings are confusing and the explanations too basic. But hey, I've got a sewing machine and that's what matters!!!

Living etc...

I´ve just moved house and this is my main source of inspiration . I´ve been subscribed for a fewyears and it never dissapoints me. They catch up with design trends quite quickly so that I never have too many "everything white" or "saturated colours" issues. Of course they feature houses and families way out of my league in price, location, or number of children but I thinkthat´s how it should be. They take great care in styling their interiors in line with the short storythey write. If it´s a bachelors pad the bedroom will be seen a bit untidy and champan flutes onkitchen. If it´s a family of seven children they´ll photograph toys all over the place.
I constantly flick through my issues for reference but this section of the web it´s great. I´ve been searching for girls rooms lately and these are just lovely.

I like this pale green colour mixed with a bit of pink. And note the curtain fabric by Cath Kidston, always a must for me.
In a perfect house I´d have this shelf (stuff included)

If I wanted to stay away from the pink I´d go for these beds. Again with the little dress included, although hang on... I´ve got a dozen like them in my cupboard. They are very spanish in taste. "Spanish grandmothers smock their little grandchildren dresses while tired grandfathers have their siesta"

And for a baby to be born this is a cheerful nursery

I think there´s a lot we can do with colour, and this is just a small example.

Garabatos :: Doodles
These are some of the things that came out of my pencil this week...

The beginning

Hola
No tengo limites.

Hi.
Welcome to my blog.
As my friends already know, I'm a compulsive seamstress at heart.
I hope this blog helps me to stop buying fabrics I dont use and sewing magazines I dont read, and above all, I hope it helps me stop photographing innocent people with cute dresses. You people out there are sooo talented.
Forgive me if I ever have looked at you in a strange way. I was just probably scanning the pattern pieces of your blouse. When I look that way I'm on record mode, storing in my brain library the colour, fabric, trim details, lining, number of buttons, seams types, etc of that lovely dress you're wearing.
I told you.
I'm a compulsive seamstress off limits.
I introduce you to my obscure world of stitching crimes.
